Tradeshow Recap: The eShow Barcelona

The eShow Barcelona took place this week at the Fira de Barcelona Exhibition Centre, attracting over 13,000 visitors to the 2 day event.  With everything e-commerce under one roof, over 120 exhibitors were at hand covering every online aspect from hosting and cloud computing to digital advertising and signage, affiliation opportunities and drop-shipping.

With an extensive conference programme also taking place, key note speakers from market leaders such as PayPal, Yahoo, Rakuten and Marks & Spencer took part, and the International Ecommerce Forum was organised by EMOTA – the European e-commerce Association with a focus this year on international expansion strategies.  The Forum explored buyer behaviour across Europe and industry trends, together with international tax and legal requirements, as well as innovative solutions for distribution and payment across Europe.  With EMOTA estimating that cross-border turnover for online sales will increase at twice the rate of domestic sales in the next few years, some 20%, strategies to encourage this trade growth and assist with buyer confidence will include the introduction by EMOTA of a pan-European Trustmark.  Business opportunities with China were also a key feature at the show, with a focus on moving into this online market which is also currently experiencing rapid growth.

A vast array of forums offered expert advice including the Net Fashion Forum proving insight into the luxury and lifestyle sectors, with the economic challenges faced by Spain and many other European countries explored in the eCommerce Summit by adigital.

With the Mobile Commerce Area showcasing integrated mobile marketing solutions, as well as the latest in mobile payment technology and apps, the Talks Fast Area provided a series of 15 minute presentations from exhibitors such as Relevant Traffic, iBird, ZINKDO and Mabisy offering advice and solutions for logistics, common pitfalls to avoid in online marketing, as well as packaging solutions and pricing strategies.

The eShow Barcelona was the first of this year’s 7 eShows, with the next event set to take place in Sao Paulo on 20-21st May 2014.
