Is it safe to merge segments in Studio 2019 of the TransPDF xlf file?

I hope so, because I am doing my first test project and am merging stuff.

Michael

TransPDF generates and expects each paragraph to be in its own segment.
Most CAT tools will further deconstruct TransPDF’s segments during translation but will reconstruct them when exported as XLIFF.
This is true of SDL Trados, memoQ, MemSource and most others we’ve tried. Possibly not CafeTrans.

Perfect, thanks!

Michael

Hello

When you merge cells in memoQ, you have to place a tag somewhere in the target text which gives you a line break.
If you place this tag at the very end, it means that the second merged cell has no content.
The original source language will then be inserted but I’m not sure if it is TransPDF or memoQ that does this
The end result is the translated pdf has the original segment so insert the tag somewhere in the middle of the merged segment.
I did send Guy screenshots of this recently.
