Help and Support with PDF Editing

As with many other applications of IT software and hardware, there are many levels of proficiency when it comes to editing PDF files. Whilst some users find editing relatively simple and understand the processes in such a way that they are able to perform their editing duties quickly and efficiently, there are many other users who find that they struggle with the concept and basics of how to edit PDF documents and require further assistance.

One of the main problems with finding assistance with IT and its accompanying methods is the amount of jargon and technical terms which often accompany IT support. These can make it very difficult for novice users to follow the instructions, whilst basic lessons are often written or taught in such a way that they are quite dull and, again, difficult to follow. For the person who either genuinely wants to learn everything there is to know about how to edit PDF documents or just needs help with a one off project, there are a number of places for finding support - whatever the user’s level of proficiency.

Adobe

Given that PDF is a format developed and maintained by Adobe it stands to reason that technical support exists via them. However, given that they produce their own editing software the support they offer will only relate to this as they will not wish to endorse the products of a rival manufacturer. A further issue with the support offered by any larger company is that they can be jargon filled and assume that the user has a broad knowledge of the subject prior to starting. This makes it difficult to find a basic how-to guide which is able to break down a technical concept such as how to edit PDF software.

Expert help also comes in the growing number of online tutorials and experts with their own websites who offer help and assistance aimed towards a variety of levels of expertise. Whilst these are certainly helpful, users are cautioned to ensure that the advice they receive is genuine and is not likely to do more harm than good.

In a similar way, there are many websites with forums where expert-amateurs and enthusiasts can gather to give their thoughts, tips and hints on how to edit PDF documents to a wide audience. Given that users can pose their own questions and ask for them to be answered in a certain way (jargon free, basic level, etc.) it is more likely that information tailored towards a certain user will be available. However, it is also worth remembering that there is no guarantee that the information and guidance received will be relevant or genuine.

Direct from Software Manufacturers

The vast majority of PDF editing software provide an after sales service as well as the basic product. Whilst some operate a FAQ section, others have a dedicated telephone line or forum where questions can be posed to their experts. Given that they have developed and are therefore the experts in their software it should be expected that theirs is the advice which can be counted on when looking how to edit PDF documents.
